Organization and Membership Overview

The Metropolitan New York College Career Planning Officers Association is an organization of college career counselors and placement officers representing more than 60 colleges and universities in the greater New York metropolitan area. Founded in 1960, with 49 charter members, its membership has grown to approximately 170. The organization continues to promote the professional growth and development of its members while providing the opportunity to exchange ideas, information and creative solutions concerning career development issues.

A seven member executive board elected by the membership governs MNYCCPOA. The Board consists of: President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Directors.

Membership Benefits

All full members of MNYCCPOA have voting privileges and can hold elected office. All members are encouraged to take an active role in the organization by serving on committees or making presentations to the membership at our meetings.

MNYCCPOA Meetings

MNYCCPOA Meetings are scheduled three times each year: fall, winter and spring at college and corporate locations throughout the metropolitan New York area.  Typical topics include current issues and trends in hiring, training, and career counseling. Guest speakers are leaders from the academic, corporate, non-profit, and government sectors. There is always an opportunity to meet with colleagues for informal discussion. Issues concerning the membership are on the agenda of the business meeting conducted at each MNYCCPOA meeting. Continuing Education Units (CEU) are awarded.

Professional Development Program

One meeting each year is usually dedicated to the professional development of the membership. These meetings offer members the opportunity to upgrade their skills and expertise.
